European Parliament and Local Election dates announced
The Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government has announced that the European Parliament and Local Elections will be held on Friday 23 May 2014. Polling will be between the hours of 7am and 10pm on that day.
It is important to remember that every person aged 18 years or over is entitled to be registered as a local government elector for the local electoral area in which they live – citizenship is not a requirement for voting at the local elections. As well as this, every Irish and other EU citizen living in Ireland aged 18 years or over is entitled to be registered to vote at the European Parliament elections in Ireland.
You can check whether you are already registered as a voter by visiting www.checktheregister.ie
If you are not already on the register to vote, you still have the opportunity to be included on the supplementary register of electors by completing the FRA2 form available on the Check The Register website.
Nasc is encouraging immigrants to vote as it is an important way of letting public representatives know that you want your voice to be heard and that you want to contribute to Irish society as active residents and citizens. Candidates who are looking for your votes will pay more attention to immigrant needs and concerns if they know that immigrants are voting.
