Information Leaflet

INIS have just released an Information Booklet detailing the ‘interim scheme’ for access to the labour market for asylum seekers, which comes into effect on 9th February 2018.  The Information Booklet is available for download here.

We are currently seeking clarification from the Department on several aspects of the proposed scheme.  In the meantime, we have drafted a leaflet and an eligibility checklist to help people determine what they can apply for.  You can access these here:

Nasc Information Session

Members of Nasc’s staff have attended a briefing organised by the Department of Justice outlining the details of the new scheme, and we will be hosting an Information Session here in Nasc on Tuesday 13th February 2018 fro 2 pm – 4 pm.  Details about the interim scheme will be provided, along with information about eligibility, self employment and accessing vocational training.

We are aware that not all asylum seekers in the Cork region will be able to make this information session, so we will also be conducting a series of outreach clinics in the direct provision centres over the next few weeks.

The schedule for those outreach clinics is as follows:

  • Glenvera – Thursday 15th February 2pm – 4pm
  • Kinsale Road – Friday 16th February 11am – 1pm
  • Drishane Castle – Wednesday February 21st 11am – 1pm
  • Ashbourne House – Thursday 22nd February 11am – 1pm
  • Clonakilty Lodge – Tuesday 27th February 2pm – 4pm

If you need more information about your eligibility or have any questions about how to access employment, please attend one of these sessions.

More information and details will be made available as we have it.
