Invitation to International Day of the Roma Celebration

Roma poster-page0001Nasc, the Irish Immigrant Support Centre, along with members of the Roma community are delighted to invite you to a celebration of Roma heritage and culture to mark the International Day of the Roma on April 8th.

Event Details: 

When:  2-4pm, Wednesday April 8th 2015

Where:  Nasc, Ferry Lane (off Dominic Street), Cork 

There will be Roma music and an opportunity to taste a selection of traditional Roma food. The photographic exhibition “Roma: One People – Many Lives” will also be on display at the event.

The Exhibition, produced by Nasc, Pavee Point and the Equality Authority, presents the everyday lives of members of the Roma community in Ireland with the aim of challenging the stereotypes and discrimination that the community often face. This photographic exhibition will be available to view throughout the month of April.

As part of the celebrations, Nasc will be officially launching a new project funded by the Open Society Foundation, entitled ‘Making Roma Rights Real’. Working in close partnership with the Roma community, this projects aims to build community capacity to counter public and institutional discrimination. Nasc will also be operating a specialist legal service to advocate for individual Roma rights.
