Key Issues highlighted in the Racism and Hate Crime conference summary
In October 2013, Nasc, together with UCC’s Centre for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, hosted a conference entitled ‘Racism and Hate Crime in Ireland: Is the legislative and policy framework adequate?‘.
This conference aimed to promote an open dialogue on Racism and Hate Crime in Ireland. Expert speakers and practitioners from a variety of fields were invited to explore the effectiveness of our current legislative and policy framework and to discuss the impact of hate crime, racism and discrimination of minority groups in Ireland.
Nasc is now delighted to release a comprehensive conference summary that has been produced in order to highlight the key issues, and further points for consideration and recommendations that emerged from the debate on the day. Nasc has drawn on these issues to make suggestions regarding the next steps in responding effectively to racism and hate crime in Ireland.
The full conference summary is available here.
