Minister for Justice’s Statement for Racism and Hate Crime Conference

Fri, October 4, 2013

Although Minister for Justice Alan Shatter was unable to attend today’s conference ‘Racism and Hate Crime in Ireland: Is the legislative and policy framework adequate?‘, he has sent us a statement of support for promoting a national dialogue which will be read out at the conference today.

In his statement, Minister Shatter specifically notes that the work Nasc and other NGOs do “ is vital in ensuring important issues such as those of racism and hate crime within Irish society remain in the spotlight.”

Minister Shatter also stated, “A process of dialogue reflecting the key issues facing us as a nation is critical in ensuring that we can identify problems and take the appropriate action to minimise and eliminate their effects. This conference is part of that dialogue.”
