Swedish Detective Jonas Henriksson speaking at TORL Partner Meeting in Nasc

Swedish Detective Jonas Henriksson speaking at TORL Partner Meeting in Nasc

Nasc, in partnership with the Immigrant Council of Ireland hosted a partner meeting of Turn Off the Red Light on June 15th. We heard from the Swedish Detective Jonas Henriksson on the impact of sex buyer laws in Sweden, and from prostitution survivor Mia de Faoite. We also heard an update on the TORL campaign.

We had a fantastic turn out for the meeting, with partners attending from about the Cork region. The discussion was very productive, with opportunities to hear the experiences of a senior Swedish Detective who is successfully enforcing the laws every day and the impact it has had on human trafficking, and to hear the harrowing account of Mia de Faoite who spoke eloquently about her experience as a prostitute and the urgent need for criminalisation.
