We are recruiting for a Legal Officer to assist in the day to day running of Nasc’s Legal Service. The role includes supporting, advocating for, referring and advising clients on a one-to-one basis on a range of immigration and protection issues. The Legal Office will work as part of the Nasc team to assist in policy development and in achieving our campaign goals.
Essential Criteria: Applicants must by 01st June 2016:
- have a third level degree in law or other relevant field;
- have experience for a minimum of one year working in a similar organisation preferably working with immigration, protection or human rights law;
- have excellent written and oral communications skills (including the ability to communicate sensitively with vulnerable clients)
- hold an excellent knowledge of immigration and protection law
- be a committed, flexible team player and have experience working as part of a team
- have experience managing his/her own case load
- be able to work under supervision and on their own
- have significant experience drafting legal submissions
- be highly organised & used to adhering to strict deadlines in a busy office;
- have some experience undertaking advocacy work with public officials or politicians;
- have excellent computer skills (including typing skills);
- have permission to work in Ireland.
Applicants must also be committed to working with immigrant, refugee and ethnic minority communities and seeking positive change for our client-base in Ireland.
The successful applicant should be in a position to take up the post before the beginning of July 2016. The contract will be a fixed term contract for a period of 12 months. Salary range is between €30,000 and €35,000 depending upon experience. This is a full time position.
