Nasc, the Irish Immigrant Support Centre is recruiting:
A Project Worker for The Cork City Social Inclusion Project. Part time– 30 hours per week, 1 year fixed term contract term contract.) Salary: €20,000 p.a.
Nasc is an independent human rights organisation. We link immigrants to their rights and seek to enable migrants to access justice and human rights. We work to ensure a just, inclusive and integrated society.
Nasc is inviting applications for a Project Worker to deliver our anti racism and social inclusion project.
Main Function: To implement the Cork City Social Inclusion Project within the European Integration Fund Guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operating the Nasc racist reporting mechanism and providing advice, support and redress to victims of racism.
- Working in partnership with An Garda Siochana on individual cases of racism.
- Devising and delivering anti racism training programmes to local schools, youth groups and state agencies.
- Engaging with and building the capacity of young people to take an active role in promoting anti racism and social inclusion through the programme actions.
- Promote awareness of anti discrimination legislative framework amongst ethnic minority communities.
- Linking in with schools, statutory organisations and the general public to promote the project and offer training to identified groups.
- Administrative duties
- Working in co-operation with other NGOs and community groups.
- Other duties as may be reasonably required.
Educational requirements:
- Relevant third level qualification (e.g. Social Policy, Community Development, Education, Law) or extensive experience in community and/or youth work
Knowledge, experience, skills relevant for the position:
- A strong track record in facilitation and training.
- Experience of working with young people and migrant youth in particular.
- Strong communication skills.
- A demonstrated commitment and background in social justice and human right
- Enthusiastic and motivated;
- Ability to work as part of a team under close supervision and on own initiative;
- Strong time management skills;
- Strong verbal and written ability in English;
- Understanding of ethical and confidentiality issues;
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
