Nasc is seeking reform of both the legal process of claiming asylum/protection in Ireland and of the accommodation system known as 'Direct Provision'.

A key element of the event was the launch of Nasc’s campaign pack which outlines our concerns with the current system and forwards some recommendations which we feel will improve the quality of life for asylum seekers and make the asylum/protection system fairer and more transparent.

About some of the speakers at this launch:

Dr Tony Humphreys, Clinical Psychologist
Dr Humphries is one of Ireland’s best-known and influential psychologists. The author of 12 best-selling books, Dr Humphries also contributes two weekly columns to the Irish Times and Irish Examiner and hosts a radio programme on RTÉ.

Robin Hanan, CEO, Irish Refugee Council
Robin Hanan has a wealth of experience working with government and NGOs with a strong emphasis on human rights. He was formerly Coordinator of the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) and Comhlámh before assuming his post with the IRC in May 2007.
