Nasc Definition of Current Situation in relation to Employment
- Discrimination and racism in the workplace in the Cork city area
- Difficulties for unemployed migrants in accessing work and progressing within the workplace
- Some workers do not know / understand their rights, some are being denied those rights and cannot currently find safe recourse to having those rights upheld

- More unemployed migrants access employment opportunities
- Migrants are aware of their rights in the workplace and can access those rights
- Employers are aware of migrant worker’s rights and needs and are proactive in responding to these rights/needs
- Information providers on job opportunities are aware of the rights/needs of migrant workers and can support migrants in accessing those rights

What kind of actions might Nasc consider as part of its advocacy work on this issue?
- Research to identify and document key employers/ employment sectors.
- Devise strategy on coordination of provision of information on finding work in Cork.
- Devise/ run training module on rights with an for services providing information on finding work.
- Research to identify barriers to employment for unemployed.
- Campaign based on research findings – aimed at Cork employers and key national policy makers.
- Produce a publication on “how to find work/education Cork”.
- Devise/ run training module on rights with and for employers.
- Provide workshops to unemployed on how to access work.
- Devise/ run training module on rights with and for migrants.
- Working with body such as Chamber of Commerce devise took kit of “good practice” in relation to employment of new communities.
