Social & Cultural sub-group - Past Activities

Activities over the past few years have included the following:

  • 10 week Irish Language and Culture Course: Taught the basics of Irish to immigrants that were interested in learning more about the native Irish language and culture. During this course students learned to speak ‘cupla focal’ (a few words), went on cultural outings and discovered traditional Irish music.  
  • Production of a film entitled “Who Are We Now” about the life of Asylum Seekers in Direct Provision Accommodation
  • Production of a book entitled “A Safe Harbour”, a book of short stories on experiences of migrants living in Cork
  • Drama group (Nascarama) produced a video of their work which seeks to explore migrant and refugee experience through the use of drama
  • Participating in street theatre events and St Patrick’s Day Parade
  • Production of a Cookery Book entitled “Global Kitchen”
  • Chistmas Party 2007: Take a look at the "Christmas Party Album 2007"
